Off to Buckingham Palace….

At long last Spring has sprung. I’m sure it’s a relief to everyone. Blue skies, rising temperatures, the return of migrating birds and the garden finally bursting into leaf, petal and colour!

Plenty of work has been on the easel, some of the finished work pictured below, as well as a few with a little way to go.

As you may know I have been showing and selling my work at Cirencester Cornhall on the first and last Thursdays of each month, with a few Saturdays thrown in.

I would like to say thanks again to those who have stopped by and to those of you who have purchased my prints or original paintings.

It’s that time of year, so as well as attending the Cornhall I will also be out and about painting at various favourite haunts across the Cotswolds and in South Devon. While at the Cornhall, I am also painting on sight. Just a few simple alla prima paintings in acrylic on 12×16” canvas or board. You’re welcome to stop by, watch, comment or even buy. A few snaps from blank canvas to finish below, taken at the Cornhall in Cirencester.

The Cornhall is a great place to meet customers and potential collectors but I think the best is meeting people in situ while out painting. I have just returned from a painting expedition to Kingsbridge and Salcombe, managing to take in some sunny scenery and begin several new pieces, as well as chat to some lovely people.

It is proving to be a busy few weeks. Youngest daughter back for a short break from Uni to see her ol’ dad! Went to Bath and managed to catch the first of the spring sunshine….. outside even! (Photo evidence below, excuse the strange look!)

Aside from enjoying a little time with my daughter, painting and subject research are never far from my mind.

My partner Pam and I managed a run out to Chepstow Castle, the Cotswold Lakes and a return to Bibury for future painting projects, again catching great weather. Hope to see you, and if you see me please come and say hello.

So ,it has been fun so far but busy and looks like continuing throughout the summer, I will keep you posted and try to get a few updates out there of my next ‘on location’ painting sessions.

Below are three pictures of a first and second stage painting of ‘The Avon as it Enters Malmesbury’. The first is sketching out and the second nearing completion. This one is a large canvas 81 x 50 cm! Looking forward to finishing this in the next week or so. The third is ‘Winter on the Avon river at Malmesbury’, finished, framed and ready for a new home.

So, tomorrow, May 22nd, I’m off to Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations and tea in the gardens of Buck House! Amazing to represent our Art Society of which HRH is President. I’ll try and pop a few pics up here when I get back.

For now, here’s a little picture of the invite to Buckingham Palace.
