From Summer to Autumn

Snowdonia Clouds

As the seasons change so does inspiration and mood.

After a wonderful summer of consistent days to get outside and paint, the daylight hours begin to draw in. Some of the pieces now nearing completion are from wonderful trips to Salcombe and Kingsbridge in South Devon, a favourite haunt and one full of family connections, making my painting trips a time, not only for capturing favourite scenes in oils, but also to meet up with old acquaintances and visit family.

This summer resulted in more seascape paintings, dramatic skies and yachts aplenty. There was even time to indulge in some sketching and planning ideas for future projects and themes, as well as the opportunity to welcome new collectors and buyers of my work.

Chilly Autumn start

As we move into Autumn and Winter, the light becomes more dramatic and the weather presents plenty of challenges in terms of getting outside to paint. So, fingerless gloves and woolies at the ready!

There will, of course, be more time spent in the studio with the opportunity to concentrate on larger pieces as well as fine tune some pieces begun ‘en plein air’ so, plenty to keep busy with.

There will be more weather enforced time to update the website and let you know what is new and coming up. I am planning a simple ‘Newsletter’ that will go out each month, but more about that soon.

For now I will keep the updates on here, so if you haven’t already done so, why not hit the button on the right to sign up for updates as they are posted? Remember you can  ‘Like’ the Facebook Page, and, ‘Follow’ for updates on Twitter via the icons on the pages too.

New pieces underway include a view of Pulteney Bridge in the City of Bath, where I was lucky enough to capture some fairly dramatic colours in the sky before the rain stopped play, and, other landscape settings from around Malmesbury and the Cotswold’s. There will also be some mountain scenes which have come about as a result of a recent trip to Snowdonia, with the focus on light, and, sky.

Plenty of work underway, and, consequently plenty of things to update here on the website. A busy few weeks ahead!

Thanks for reading and speak soon.

Chris
